Serving temperature
The brewers recommend you drink this beer between 5°C and 7°C; stick it in the fridge for an hour or so for that maybe a touch longer. But if you ask me that might mask some of the spicy rye flavour. Try 30 mins instead for a more gentle chill.
As ever, be wary of over-chilling your beer. More chill means less flavour. To learn more read my post on recommended serving temperatures.
Flavours to expect
Rye beers have a spicy peppery edge to their body that comes from the grain. They’re darker than most beers, usually a rich red, and often have caramel and honey notes. This one should have all that and then some fruity IPA hopping going on. The hops in the beer are:
- Magnum: resinous, herbal, pine
- Mosaic: tropical fruit, blueberry, citrus
- Amarillo: floral, citrus, orange
Food pairings
Smoked salmon on rye bread. Or Ryvita perhaps.
