Serving temperature

Serve this beer between 9°C and 12°C; stick it in the fridge for 30 to 40 minutes.

As ever, be wary of over-chilling your beer. More chill means less flavour. To learn more read my post on recommended serving temperatures.

Flavours to expect

Traditional dunkelweizens are malt led beers with an expressive yeast character and not too much hop bitterness. They’re soft, fruity and delicious. Schneider Weiss Aventinus Tap 6 is a great example of the style.

The hops used are Tradition, described as floral, grassy, and herbal. It’s an aroma hop closely related to Hallertauer Mittelfruh, which is a classic German hop.

Food pairings

This is a bit of a tricky one this week. Roast chicken is usually a good option for this style of beer. A cheese such as gouda would do well. But I think the best match might be banana bread, which should pick up on the yeast and the malt from the beer and echo them both very nicely.
