As ever, be wary of over-chilling your beer. More chill means less flavour. To learn more read my post on recommended serving temperatures.

Flavours to expect

Milk stouts should be smooth and sweet with a roasted undertone the cut through the creamy lactose body. Expect chocolate and dark fruit notes and perhaps some coffee character too. The brewers’ say: “Silky smooth oats, organic cacao nibs and lactose sugar come together to generate a deliciously drinkable milk stout.”

The hops used are:

  • Magnum: resinous, herbal, pine
  • Willamette: blackcurrant, spicy, floral

Food pairings
